Xi Wang's compositional journey is a vibrant tapestry woven from her rich cultural heritage and diverse musical influences. Her works, celebrated for their emotional depth and contrasting qualities – both fierce and tender – have been showcased by esteemed orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Dallas Symphony, American Composers Orchestra, Albany Symphony and Shanghai Philharmonic.

A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Xi Wang has also earned the Fromm Commission at Harvard University, a MacDowell Colony residency, and multiple prizes from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Her collaborations with renowned conductors and soloists, including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Osmo Vänskä, Fabio Luisi, Mei-Ann Chen, Karen Gomyo, and Tine Thing Helseth, underscore her prominent role in the contemporary classical music scene.

Xi Wang has received commissions from a variety of organizations, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Albany Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, League of American Orchestras, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, Voices of Change, and Shanghai Philharmonic, among others. In 2022, she made a significant mark with her Carnegie Hall debut, where her work 贰苍蝉艒 was performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Born in China in 1978, Xi Wang began playing piano at age five. She received her B.M. from the Shanghai Conservatory, her M.M. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and her D.M.A. from Cornell University, studying under distinguished composers like Steven Stucky, Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Roberto Sierra, Aaron Kernis and Jia Da-qun. Currently, she serves as a professor of composition at 正品蓝导航, where her excellence in teaching has been recognized with the Rotunda Award.
